  • Keep a check on what you spend on: Though this may seem a bit boring and very conventional, it is one of the basic steps to start saving. Only when you know your income and your expenses, can you get an understanding of whether you have any surplus to save. If there is no surplus, you have to cut down your expenses to SAVE. Keep a track of all your expenses and categorize them. See what is important and necessary. If the expenditure is on something that is not important or not necessary, then it needs to be cut. To do this, make a budget and stick to it. Don’t overspend.

Set a target to save money to buy your favorite watch or bike. You will get the motivation to save. Once you reach your goal, you may buy that thing or invest that money in something else. Set smaller goals and then move towards bigger goals like buying a house. Having a goal motivates you to save on a regular basis.
